[/caption]Wow. ROTFL. That was my reaction when I heard that Obama was planning to fund high speed rail projects as another way to create jobs. Unbelievable, that this supposedly intelligent man does not understand that government cannot create jobs, they can only facilitate the creation of jobs by getting out the way of businesses and letting them create jobs. But no, he is planning to spend billions on a worthless endeavor. Its not even a democratizing thing for the poor. Its been proven without question that high speed rail lines are ridden by the more affluent anyways. What the poor need are more buses. The reality is that the whole transportation sector is messed up and giving more and more money to failed initiatives is not going to help fix it. What it needs is some serious innovation, but it wont get that if we keep bailing out car companies and building high speed rail lines.
