After that, I went to Whole Foods to do some shopping. Previously, I never shopped at Whole Foods, as I was sure that their management was all lefty – until I read this great article in Reason Magazine about the founder of Whole Foods, and his libertarian leanings Since then, we’ve been shopping there regularly. Since they cater to lefty types, they carry a bunch of lefty magazines. I caught the cover of Mother Jones as I was heading to the cashier: the title was “The Superrich Are Eating America, Can Obama Save Us?” The unbelievable stupidity of that just floored me: a) the superrich are the ones which keep the economy going, they are rich because people gave them money for something they produced, not theft b) they still have faith that Obama can champion their cause (In my eyes he is simply another opportunistic politician looking out for himself – even progressives are unhappy with him) and c) that they feel that the government can “save us” from anything. It was the icing on the cake: after attempting to discuss issues with liberals all day, I gave up: these creatures simply do not have the capacity to understand and change, well at least most of them don’t.

In the end, most everyone on HuffPo was not interested in any logical fact or argument Pretty much all of the people I talked to had basically taken their ability to think and reason, put it on a shelf, and just walk in lockstep with the talking points of the progressive Democrats. It was sad, actually. After this, I was thinking, they are not really an enemy, I can’t really hold any hatred for them, they are really more to be pitied. An enemy is one you can hate since they really do have malice towards you, for example like a terrorist who kills or enjoys killing. These people are more misguided and lazy: its tough to think, its difficult to reason: its much easier to shelve that and just let some politician tell you that they will take care of everything and everything will be alright.

As usual, I got the “you are a hateful Bush lover” insults, asking where the Tea Party and Libertarians were while Bush was wrecking things: I replied that libertarians had always been around (I mean the libertarian party has been around since 1971, libertarian thought since before America was formed) and never really liked Bush either. He may have been fine for the first little while, but after 9/11, all that changed. Plus the Tea Party formed mostly in response to the Bush bailouts, and simply continued during the Obama bailouts. The old saw, that the Tea Party was organized by corporate interests, was hauled out yet again, and I countered with “you really think corporations are behind a movement which slams corporate handouts?” Plus corporations are about as bad as governments when it comes to conspiracy, I doubt that they have the ability to pull one off.

After that, the discourse was rocking: however I noticed the exact same thing as I get from liberals everywhere: that they have a completely closed mind, that they are not open to any kind of fact and argument, that they simply repeat talking points over and over again. In addition, they are really a bunch of whiny little brats. In fact, one the first responses was “wahh, this blog isn’t like it used to be” (well, I added the “wahh”). I guess HuffPo was a nice safe place for these people to live in their own little world, far far away from reason and reality, and us big bad conservatives came in there to ruin their day. Aw, doesn’t free speech suck? I guess for these people it does: all they ever wanted to hear was their party line, and there was really no reasoning with them.

I’ve been purposely staying away from places like the Huffington Post because I can’t really stand not only the slant of the publication, but the shrill tone of the articles. However this weekend, I noticed an article by Andrew Brietbart, of Big Government fame, on there, regarding the NPR sting, where they slammed the Tea Party for being racist. His article indicated that this was a win for the Tea Party, as this just made NPR look like idiots. So I commented, mentioning how I believed that the Tea Party looks at things from a purely fiscal perspective, and simply wants to reduce taxes for everyone. What did I get for my factual and reasoned argument: a one line insult. So I responded with, well I thought I might get some reasoned discourse on here, but I guess I was mistaken. After that the ball was rolling: I actually got a number of other readers fanning me on there.

I don’t know about you, but instead of joking and golfing this weekend, I, and probably most Americans, spent the weekend with our eyes glued to the televisions and the internet, while reports of the devastation in Japan were coming through. I didn’t really have it in my heart to attend a dinner, joking and laughing with journalists and fellow politicians at Gridiron. I didn’t then go golfing: I ‘d feel bad enjoying myself like that when there were tens of thousands of people suffering in Japan. Of course, our President is not troubled by such things. like most liberals, he has the uncanny ability to completely ignore and compartmentalize any suffering in the world other than his own. Like most narcissists, he exists to further only his own pleasure. He has no empathy whatsoever, be it for the suffering Japanese, Libyans, Egyptians, or those Americans on the unemployment line. I don’t know about you but empathy is a trait I feel a President needs to do the job. Again, he’s not a good fit, and come 2012, let’s fire him.

Amid the devastation in Japan, it seems that all reporting must now be politicized by the mainstream media. As the earthquake and tsunami swept over Japan, pundits blamed man-made global warming – although how global warming can be connected to an earthquake is beyond me. As the nuclear plants begin to fail due to the earthquake, possibly leading to meltdown, pundits decried nuclear power. In fact, the nuclear scientists have spoken up, saying that the mainstream media is purposely reporting far worse conditions in order to help foster panic about nuclear power. Somedays it seems like they wont be happy until we are riding our bikes to a farm for work. What kind of society would be ideal for these people? Amish? 7th century Islam? I mean, how much of our modern civilization would they strip back in order to map to their fanatical ideology? Or do they just want us paying for the privilege of living in the modern world.

The devastation in Japan: earthquake followed by tsunami. My heart goes out to everyone there. One moment, we are living our lives, feeling fully in control of everything, believing that we have mastered this plant, the next, nature contradicts us. How can we ever believe that we truly have any kind of power over the brute force of this planet?

I visit the Huffington Post and other liberal blogs over the weekend to see what its like over there. It's actually a lot of fun to poke at liberals, didn't realize what a bunch of whiny babies they were. They HATED any kind of dissent, whined and insulted anyone who tried to have a reasoned debate instead of walking in lockstep with their world vision.

Obama: It Would Be So Much Easier To Be President Of China

Usually Obama is pretty careful about overt discussions of his longing so be a dictator instead of an elected official. He actually said “it would be so much easier to be President of China” recently, a few months ago he was bemoaning the fact that “I am not King, there’s Congress” etc. Of course he would prefer to be President of China, and by extension, would probably prefer that something like the Chinese system of government to ours. Prominent Democrats over the years have voiced similar opinions, and I’ve raised these issues before on my show: Democrats would love the capitalist socialism of China to be brought here: Hillary has ogled China as well. With its churning factories and low wages, oppression and suppression, turning America into China is every liberals wet dream – as long as they are part of the ruling elite and the unwashed masses between the left and right coast become the factory workers. Yes, China gives liberals the best of all possible worlds: tons of money for the elites, and no more chatty radio talk show hosts like Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity, Levin or me stirring up the pot.

As I write this, a major (8.9) quake has hit Japan, killing many there and causing tsunami warnings all over the Pacific. My deepest condolences for this horrible tragedy, and I hope that those trapped are found swiftly, possibly even with the help of Twitter.

As soon as the quake hit, the first wave of information regarding the quake hit the rest of the world via Twitter. That’s right folks: it wasn’t CNN, MSNBC or Fox News: word of this earthquake and tsunami spread first through individuals on the ground in Japan, experiencing the quake personally.

It was basically crowdsourced news. The first tweets hit twitter just as it happened, and within a half hour, it was a top trending term. There was an emergency somewhere in the world, and the first route to information is the internet.

Now imagine Barack Obama sitting in the Oval Office with a big internet kill switch on his desk. Pressing this button would basically shut down the internet: no one would be able to reach any website or service, Facebook, Google, Twitter would all be dead. Now why would Obama ever have a need to kill all internet communications in the event of an emergency?

I mean, during a crisis, we depend more than ever on the internet and services like Twitter, which also use SMS, to get the news regarding the crisis, and how it might affect us. Trapped victims can also use Twitter to report on thier location - loved ones can use Twitter to tell their friends and families that they are OK.

Unless, of course, the emergency were one of suppressing our inviolable right to speak, as encoded in the Constitution. It makes no sense to “kill” the internet, unless its spreading a message the government does not want you to hear.

Uniting Libertarians, Tea Partiers and Conservatives To Fight For Freedom

Some tell me that this is an impossible task: that there is no way that we can unite libertarians, Tea Partiers and conservatives. They are just too different. Well, I beg to differ: think of us as three overlapping circles: we do have a few common goals: and that is to reduce taxes, reduce government spending, reduce the size and scope of government, and keep it as much out of meddling in our live as possible. We may differ on personal issues, but on fiscal issues we all feel pretty much the same. Now is the time for us to unite and put our differences to the side. Now is the time for us to work together to fix the fiscal problems this country has, reduce the footprint of government, give the power back to the people. We can do it, but only if we work together: we need to quit this in-fighting among us: don’t you know that every time a conservative insults a Tea Partier, that the liberals laugh at us. Every time you are thinking about slamming one of the other of us, think about the peals of laughter from the liberals, who will gladly use these divisions to destroy us. Now is the time for us to stand strong and together. If we don’t we will lose to the Obama juggernaut again, and this country can’t take another four years of Obama. So for the sake of the greater good of this country, let’s all just get along, at least until we’ve won the Presidency again.

One of the things I learned from economics (if not from Econ 101, something pretty close to that) is that one of the worst things that the government can do when its in a financial crunch as we are today, is to raise taxes in order to cover shortfall. You guys know that I have advocated and continue to advocate deep spending cuts: we can’t afford not to. However, even with these cuts, we still have to raise enough revenue for the state to keep services going until we can privatize them. The shortsighted and wrong view would be to raise taxes to cover that shortfall. This won’t work, and will frankly make things worse, as business will hire less, shut down, and people will spend less. The trick is to REDUCE taxes. Once taxes are reduced, then businesses will expand and hire, people will buy more, and overall tax revenues will rise. Unfortunately, this runs contrary to the ideals of this administration, who are happy to start and run class wars which never existed here, so I bet that we won’t see taxes come down anytime soon.

Is there a fear, on the GOP side, of another Obama juggernaut? I’m getting a little concerned about the lack of anyone on the GOP side making a strong declaration to run for President yet. I wonder what the delay is? My gut tells me that despite the fact that Obama has done more to derail America than any other past President, the politics of guilt, race and likability, not to mention the billion dollar campaign, will be a very tough thing to fight. I’m sensing that this is why no one has really stepped up strongly to declare their intentions to run.

We have to remember that in every poll so far, Americans say that they “like” Obama, though God know why, but they don’t like his policies. Well, that’s the message then. While the Obama campaign will start with the hateful, personal attacks (they’ve already started), both overt and covert via the mainstream media, we have to focus on the policies he has enacted which are taking us to the brink of ruin: as well as the burdensome taxation which will have to come down the pipe in order to support these initiatives. As long as we focus on the fiscal, then we should have a strong case.

I was at the pump again yesterday morning, noticed that the price of gas had gone up another 10 cents since I fill it up last, just a mere few days ago. Well, I guess its still way below what Obama wants us to pay for gas, so that’s probably why he isn’t doing anything about it, like releasing more areas to be drilled on our own soil. Apparently, we don’t subscribe to the “drill, baby, drill” policy (yes, its true someone in the Obama admin – I think it was the energy secretary – actually said that), so our gas prices have a long way to rise before they get to where Obama feels they might be something he should do something about. This simply further underscores his feeling towards Americans, which range from utter disregard to contempt. Why I think he’s back on the golf course again right now, enjoying his day, while we work hard so that he can have these days, and we have to do without them.

Oh BTW, looks like Obama is calling a press conference to discuss this. How much do you want to bet that it will be the same story over again: renewable blah blah blah. He has no concern for us, whatsoever.

At last look, the carnage in Libya continues. Muammar Gaddafi continues to rain death upon his own people. He is ready, willing and able to run a protracted civil war, pitting tanks and guns against unarmed civilians. It’s going from a civil war to a massacre. We, the American people, feel for the Libyans. We wish we could do something – we wish we could help overthrow this tyrannical leader and bring peace back to your country. But our leader, no our leader is soft. He is weak. Even in the face of overwhelming evidence of people suffering and dying, he delays decisions. When he does respond, he responds meekly. This man is not the leader we want. This man does not represent us. So Sarkozy is stepping up in Europe, and saying and doing what Barack Obama should have done all along, but is too weak to do. With luck, at least some leaders out there care enough about the Libyan people to do something about it.

Saudi police open fire at protest. The call for freedom and democracy is resonating throughout the world. We need to do what we can to support the people who are under the thumb of these oppressive regimes, and not the regimes themselves, which we have done for far too long. Now is the time for us to come out in support of the people. It's doubtful that Obama will do anything, lest it appear that America is strong, or that he really knows anything about foreign policy, or that he says or does anything to rile up the Saudis, which we have been supporting for so long. I think it would be a nice change if we were to support the people, and not the regime, for a change. Well, at least we know that the American people support protests against tyranny and for freedom, even if our royal POTUS doesn't.

And its about time, Governor Walker finally passes the union bill which gets rid of collective bargaining. I’d argue its long past due: with teachers being out of school for weeks, union thugs practically destroying Madison, Democrat lawmakers (or should that be law-breakers) even going so far as to flee the state in order to not have to vote on this bill, this conflict has gone on far too long, and Governor Walker has shown way too much compassion for these people. This is an issue which plagues us a bit on this side: while they will go to any lengths to win, we try to be civil And the result what happened in Wisconsin. We have to just understand that these people will not listen to reason, and therefore should treat them like children, and decisions should come quickly. But I digress. We’ve won in Wisconsin, now we need to bring this fight to the rest of the country and eventually de-fang public sector unions everywhere.

I’d like to make a modest proposal when it comes to the things that we call “social issues”. Some of the political issues which come under that banner are things like gay marriage, abortion, personal drug use, development and consumption of pornographic and violent media, promotion of a specific political viewpoints etc. I think you know what I’m talking about: its basically the issues that truly keep libertarians, Tea Partiers and conservatives from uniting. We have those who believe in “social freedom” and those who believe in “social conservatism”. For the purposes of this article, I’m not leaning in either direction. However I do have something to say about the naming and involvement in either of those.

Simply put: most of these issues are not really “social”, they do not truly affect the society at large, they are largely '”personal”. For example, if a same sex couple wishes to marry and live together down the street, it does not affect the rest of the neighborhood or society. Thus gay marriage is not a “social issue”, it is a “personal issue”. The same goes for personal drug, pornography, violent media consumption or political beliefs: all of these are “personally” consumed, not socially consumed. If someone the next block over wishes to play a violent video game, or indulge in a recreational drug, be it marijuana or alcohol, it is that person, not the society, which is affected. Unless there is a socialized health care system where everyone has a financial stake in the health of everyone around us, then I don’t really care how many beers someone has, as long as they don’t jump into a car drunk and do some damage to others. But we already have laws for that.

Health care and abortion can be argued are the most “personal” of the social issues discussed. The decisions regarding either of these issues should be restricted to the immediate family and trusted health care providers. The state, and the rest of society, really have little say in the matter. Just as if you wouldn’t want anyone else other than yourself and your immediate family to make decisions about your health, you shouldn’t expect to make decisions regarding others health.

So here is my modest proposal: instead of calling these “social issues” lets try calling them “personal issues” which is, in reality, closer to what they really and truly are. So think about it: the next time you talk about the “social issue” of gay marriage, think of it as a “personal issue”. If you think of it as a personal issue as opposed to a social issue, then you have to see how meddling in peoples personal issues is not right. In the same way you wouldn’t want people poking their noses into your personal issues, you should not expect to have the ability, either directly or via that state, to poke your nose into theirs.

NPR Needs To Be Defunded And Privatized, Right Now

Even though its not a huge chunk of budget, I believe that we need to immediately spin out – or privatize (which I guess is the public version of “spin out”)- NPR, PBS, and any other media properties which the state is currently funding. This is not just in response to one of the heads at NPR calling the Tea Party racist (boy, I have to tell you that I’m getting really sick and tired of these liberals throwing around the term racism when the Tea Party movement is purely FISCAL, and fiscal issue affect everyone regardless of skin color) but for two reasons a) we can’t afford to pay for them anymore and b) it’s just not right for the state to force people to fund, via taxpayers money, promotions of viewpoints that they disagree with. How would a gay marriage activist feel if the government started promoting straight marriage? See what I mean? If you ask me, ones political views are personal issues as well, and if people wish to spend money promoting their beliefs, then more power to them Just don’t steal my money and use it to promote ideals I DO NOT believe it.

I’m telling you these Democrats have a great imagination. Somehow they think that if they throw enough money at something it will magically start working, that it will hit some magic tipping point, and suddenly turn around. It seems to be the answer for everything: Obama, knowing the horrific financial straits that we are in, just asked for more money for education. Again, instead of fixing a system which is broken (mostly due to the two constituents who have the least to do with actually educating a child – unions and the state) they simply just throw more money at it. It is not going to just repair itself at some magic figure – the money flow needs to first be stopped dead, then these systems need to be torn apart, fixed and/or dumped (privatized). More money is just masking problems and making them worse.

This is a good question: has anyone been denied an ObamaCare Waiver? Rush Limbaugh the other day said that this may be being done on purpose in order to force ObamaCare to fail, so that we would need to bring in a single payer system. I think that there might be some truth to that: the Obama administration just granted a waiver to the entire state of Maine. So it got me wondering: has anyone, so far, been denied a waiver for ObamaCare? I mean, that would be a key indicator that the originators of the legislation never intended it to be a success or even really work: if there are enough waivers granted, then there is no way the plan can be funded, and will there do down in defeat. Whereupon the Obama administration will likely throw its hands up, say “we tried” and begin to draft single-payer legislation.

A Horrible Prediction

I’ve had this horrible feeling at the pit of my stomach: as a futurist (yes that is my day job) I look at the signs (no, not like a psychic), indicators and build scenarios of possible futures. And today, I‘ve decided to go public with a horrible prediction from the Official Future Hall Of Predictions: much as I don’t want this prediction to come true: looking at everything that I’m seeing today, I predict that Obama will win re-election. The signs are all there: a weak Republican field, an administration manipulating events in order to allow any real recovery to occur closer to the election, a President with a ridiculous amount of money and supporters in the mainstream media: any message other than his will be drowned out. Couple that with the extreme nastiness which will be forced upon any candidate who goes up against him, add in a resurgence of white guilt, and it will be an extremely hard slog to beat him. But boy, I hope this prediction is wrong. I don’t think America can take another 4 years, in fact not another 4 days of this administration.

Still, I felt uneasy about the guy. As it turns out that unease turned out to be well founded: according to a Facebook post by Mark Levin, pointing to a site which outlines political contributions, he threw a lot of money at both R and D over the years. Then I saw Chuck Shumer on that list. That’s when I knew that, uh no. Please accept my apologies for those last two posts. I have no idea what I was thinking. My apologies: I have no idea what I was smoking when I had the fleeting though that Trump might be a decent candidate. One look at his political contributions (Thanks to Mark Levine for pointing it out) and one can easily see that he's basically greased whatever government palm he's need to - R or D, in order to push his agenda. Seeing Chuck Shumer on there was the clincher for me. No to Trump!

Yes, folks, we actually pay for someone to write cowboy poetry. This is just one of the millions of things we waste money on. What a great example for Harry Reid to bring up, on what a waste it is. We have to stop this and I'd bet 99% of the government programs out there.

Has any company or state been denied an ObamaCare waiver? I bet not.

The only caveat I would think is that as a fairly public figure, I’m sure that he has a ton of skeletons in the closet that he may not wish to be revealed, and as I mentioned in a previous post, I’m sure that there will be legions of media, Obama supporters, and paid Obama agents who will unearth every possible bit of dirt that they can on him. Maybe he can weather that storm. He definitely has the resources and the name recognition. I wonder though if, like Howard Stern, who at one point wanted to run for the Governorship of New York state, decided to pull out of the race because he would have had to disclose all of his financial dealings, that there is some damning fact in Trumps past which would make him unelectable.

The last I saw Donald Trump, he was giving a rousing speech at the CPAC conference, which I reported on back when it happened. It was memorable for a few reasons: one, I had always thought of him as more of a neocon, or rightist Democrat, so I was a bit surprised to see him at CPAC of all places, and secondly, he came out with a statement which really riled up the Ron Paul supporters in the audience: he basically just spoke the truth that Ron Paul had zero chance of becoming President. I like Trump: maybe what we need is a businessman and not a politician to take the reigns for a bit and turn things in the right direction. At least, unlike Romney, he has no socialized healthcare system in his past to haunt him.

I don’t really understand all of the hubbub around the term Gangster Government, which was being used by Michelle Bachmann over the last few days to describe the regime of Barack Obama. I’ve said as much myself: the corrupt thuggery of Chicago politics forms the major backbone of this administration: you see the same kind of intimidation, payola and implied violence that apparently thrives in Chicago, now rolled out nationally. Bachmann also questions Obama commitment to the ideals of American, I think goes so far as calling him un-American. If you ask me, by his words and deeds, he IS being very un-American, and I applaud Bachmann for coming out and being honest and forthright in her opinions. For far too long, we have been too silent and too civil on these issues. When we see our own President dismantling America from the inside out, we have to step up, speak up, and push back. Gangster government, if you ask me, is a pretty apt when it comes to describing the current ruling denizens.

Yes: NPR should get no more taxpayer funding. It's beyond time NPR and PBS were spun off to fend for themselves. There is no need or room for any kind of public broadcasting any longer. I personally am sick and tired of my hard earned tax dollars going to promote viewpoints which I completely disagree with. If there truly is enough demand for this programming, then I say throw it out into the private market and we'll see if it can survive. Nows the time to pare our government back down to its core principles, and I highly doubt that public broadcasting would have been part of the founders vision, even if it were around back then.

Enough With The Civility: They Fight Dirty, You Know. One of the great things about our side is that we at least try to be civil. We think of ourselves as morally better than they, so when epithets are hurled at us, no matter how vile, we take them with resolve and fight back in a much more civil way, which indicates our more morally correct stature. This might be an issue. You have to remember that we are in the ring with a dirty fighter, someone who will have no hesitation breaking the rules in order to demolish us. They can’t attack us on the issues, so they will attack us personally, dig up anything that they can, jump on any flubs or mistakes we make, and press as hard as they can. I myself remember attending a Star Trek convention in Toronto in 1976. Are we being driven to economic oppression: the short answer is yes. In most socialist states, there exists a soft from of oppression which is very difficult to fight against. In these states, and Canada is one example of one, the government increases taxes and fees to very high levels purposely in order to increase the economic burden on its citizens. These citizens, in turn, need to increase their efforts to either make more money, but getting second jobs, or reducing expenses, saving money and foregoing purchases. This in turn creates a survival mentality, where the citizens work so hard in order to simply stay put financially, that they no longer have the will or energy for political action. Additionally, if this goes on for long enough, it has a hardening effect on the culture of the country: formerly generous and optimistic nations become miserly and pessimistic. I’ve experienced that myself in Canada. As more and more economic hardship is laid on the back of the American taxpayer, there is a real danger that this can happen here as well.

The Wisconsin layoffs of teachers and other education workers who have be protesting for the last week or so should have come down yesterday. Since the Democrat representatives who should have been there to pass the spending cuts bill had fled to another state, and were camping out in order to not allow a vote, Governor Walker really had no choice but to begin laying off staff in order to cover the shortfall. He really had no choice. but if you ask me, he has already been much too tolerant of the protests and violence, both verbal and physical abuse which people have been subjected to over the course of these protests. And now, their time has run out, and the result of the Democrats fleeing the state, the results were far worse for the staff effected. In the end, its the teachers who will suffer, not the lawmakers. And isn't that typical?

There was a show on ABC, now sadly cancelled, called “Better Off Ted”. It was about office life at a company called “Veridian Dynamics” (a bit like “The Office”), which conceivably made everything under the sun, from child’s toys to military gear. In between the segments of the episode, fake commercials for Veridian Dynamics were aired. On a show whose theme was workplace racism, there was a joke commercial whose tagline was “Diversity: It’s a Word That Makes White People Smile” – it then went into all of this politically correct imagery of all different races working and playing together in harmony, a perfect portrayal of a color-blind world.

Obama has a similar effect: when people look at him, they can feel proud that they elected the first multiracial African-American president. That pride continues even to today, when people polled say that they like him, but dislike his policies. Unfortunately, that pride has come at a price: if we just took a closer look at his ideology, instead of thinking about his race - then maybe we would have made a different choice. However, if you think back, we really didn't have one: its was either the soft socialism of McCain, or the harder socialism of Obama.

it sure sounds like today, in his words and deeds, that there is a white America and a black America, a liberal America and a conservative America. I guess those were just pretty words, designed to fool the masses into thinking that this guy was some kind of post racial, post partisan candidate. Well, I guess it worked. And today, whether its telling Eric Holder to not prosecute Black Panther members who intimidated white voters at the polls, or talking about how the Tea Party has a “racial element” to it, playing the race card is becoming old hat for this guy. It’s too bad. As a multiracial candidate, he really had the right background to attempt to transcend race and truly put this behind us. But like all of the failed policies of other countries past which he is continuing to attempt to impose upon us, he really can’t help himself. In reality, Barack Hussein Obama has nothing but contempt for his white side, even though they bore the brunt of raising him.

In a recent poll, it was reported that people LIKE President Obama, but disapprove of his policies. So I ask you: what is it about Obama that's so likable? Is this some kind of collective hallucination that this man is so wonderful as a person - not even as a leader? I mean seriously, what is it about the man that you like so much? His haughty attitude? His dismissiveness of ideas other than his own? His endless vacations in Hawaii and on the golf course while the country's economy falters? His holding parties at the White House, serving $100 an ounce Wagyu steak while unemployment rates and mortgage defaults soar? Really, I'd like to know. Or is it just because people are afraid to be labelled as a racist if they say they don't like him? I think its the latter. I wrote in my book that "Obama is a word that makes white people smile" - I think that the reason people like Obama because, as a black man, he reflects progressive attitudes towards race. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with his personality or how he acts, its all about how he looks. Well, my friends, let's be totally honest here, would you still like him as much if he were white? If he were John Kerry, would we be cutting him so much slack? If we were truly honest with ourselves, we'd just stand up and say: We don't like the man, and his policies. When I see things like politicians harping that they are being successful because the reports show that jobless claims are dropping, I usually chuckle sadly. Jobless claims are not a true indication of an economy improving, in fact in this case, its most likely people dropping off the roles because their benefits have run out and they can no longer claim them. More and more people every day are facing the reality that there are no jobs, Obama’s much vaunted stimulus program did not create any jobs, and if they do get another job, its most likely a much lower paying position, where they may not be able to meet their mortgage or rent obligations. The economy is not in recovery. A recovery is much different from this. And the sad fact is that Obama knows exactly what he needs to do in order to turn around the economy and he either a) does not do it for ideological reasons or b) is waiting until closer to the next election so he can claim the recovery as his own and be re-elected. Either way, millions will lose their cars, homes and family, while this failed leader schmoozes, dances and golfs his way through his term.

I’m sure that there will be a lot of finger pointing, bowing and scraping, and once again we will come away with nothing which helps the situation. I have a solution. And the solution is to simply stop playing games and enforce the law, as strongly as possible. Let’s face it: Mexico is a mess. And Mexico’s mess is spilling over into America. Now we can do one of two things: we can help them fix their mess, or we can put up a wall, be it real or virtual, and keep their mess on their side of the wall. I say we leave them alone to fix their mess, and erect as strong as possible, a wall to keep the mess out. Instead of hiring 15,000 IRS agents to crack down on American citizens who don’t wish to be forced to pay for the heath care of everyone around them, why not hire 15,000 more border patrol agents. Why not make drone flights over the area? Why not crack down? This President doesn’t know the meaning of the word. So until then, we will see the situation go from bad to worse. My advice if you live around there now: don’t depend on the government to help you. Also, don’t bother trying to defend yourself, against these criminals, it more likely our government will prosecute you if you try to defend yourself and your property in the “hot zone”. My advice is move away, at least until we get a President with balls. Even Sarah Palin would fit that bill.

Will Obama Invade Libya?

So the question is, will Obama invade Libya? Well, I see no reason why he would from an ideological standpoint, Obama’s ideology doesn’t believe in right and wrong, only shades of grey, so he has trouble processing the fact that Gaddafi is a BAD GUY. However, he may decide to invade Libya for political reasons, in order to attempt to propel himself into a second term. Now most people think this is unlikely, considering his contempt, and his lack of comprehension for a need for an Armed Forces, (if there are no bad guys in the world, why do we need an army to fight them?), however, since everything revolves around our narcissistic leader, then he may decide to take Gaddafi out in order to look good. Its not so far fetched: remember how he delayed sending more troops to Afghanistan right after the “won” the Nobel Peace Prize? Who knows how many Afghans and allied forces were killed when he was hemming and hawing about his decision? So I don’t put it past him to go to war in order to push up his patriot points, help him in his future role as President of the World once he gets to the UN, and assist him to secure a second term.

The reason that China, Russia and India are on the rise is not because they are doing things right when it comes to perpetrating a capitalist mindset, it is mostly because we are doing everything wrong when it comes to maintaining our leadership in the world. It’s been proven, time and time again, that what Barack Hussein Obama is doing does not help. Every action that he has taken since he has become President has not supported America, but has made us weaker. The Obama Administration, with its hateful attitude towards commerce, capitalism and the military, has systematically “taken us down – more than a few pegs”, which then, coupled with his weakness and timidity when it comes to foreign policy, has emboldened other countries to “tread on us”. Do you really think that if we had a stronger President in office, one who kept our economy strong by supporting business and capitalism domestically and by supporting democracy and capitalism outside our borders, there would be ANY talk of the American dollar’s “reign” being at an end? No. The only reason we are still in these dire straits, and that the rest of the world feels emboldened to take these steps to take us down, is wholly due to the actions of Barack Hussein Obama. The rest of the world is “feeling their oats”, so to speak, and taking action while we are down, because when the next President steps up to the plate, it will be a whole new ball game. We’d better make sure that that President can knock it out of the park – not like the bunter, Obama.

The call has been heard for a while now, from various authors and journalists who a) would prefer that America be in decline and b) actively contribute to its decline. Even stranger, many of these authors and journalists are actually American and were born in America. I guess that they are allowing their self-loathing to come out aren’t they. But I digress. The reality is that the prediction that America would be in decline has been around for ages, but America never actually went into decline until the ascension of Barack Hussein Obama and his minions. At that point, he and his administration have actively worked to make that prediction come true. America is not in decline because its people don’t believe in its vision anymore, America is in decline because its current leader and administration constantly and continuously portray that we are in decline, by our posture against other nations, and by their actions, purposely enacting policies, laws, regulation and taxes to force us into a further decline, as they attempt to overthrow American entrepreneurial culture and replace it with one of their own: a copy of a failed socialist state, where most of the rest of the world is now. We. the American people, do not believe that America is in decline, and that it is only the portrayal of decline by our President, his minions and the mainstream media which wishes it to be so. WE are definitely NOT in decline, and once we get rid of this failed non-cheerleader as President, then the world will know it too.

For the first time in history, a state was founded to serve the people, not the other way around. We led there We led in the establishment of a wall between the state and religion. We led when natural disasters devastated other countries, we led when people all over the world need help. As soon as we hear about it, we, the American people, step up, take action, open our wallets, do whatever needs to be done in order to help. Not so our current President. He wants us as a follower nation, to let others step up first, to condemn first, to help first. He does not understand, or does not care, that WE do care. Yes, folks, the progressives environmental zeal to protect the planet from the horrific effects of people has literally now bitten them in the ass (or at least in the nose). If you are in the San Francisco area, near AT&T Park, you may smell the most foul odor. That, my friends, is the smell of progressives getting their way. As is turns out, when low flow toilets first became available, the environmental activist government gave people subsidies and tax breaks to have them installed. So many in fact, that most toilets in San Francisco are low flow. Problem is that all of those low flow toilets together, do not have the flushing power to actually expel and send the waste out through the pipes. And since there isn’t enough water to flush it all out, it gets stuck and backed up, creating a horrible smell, and some engineering issues, trying to figure out how to “unblock” it. I think maybe a few thousand gallons of Ex-Lax won’t do the trick here. Progressives have literally constipated San Francisco. And if we let them, they will constipate the whole country. So I say: resist the urge to put in that low flow toilet, lest you want Rotor Router on your speed dial.

I mean you get up early every day, you get ready for work,you spend hours and hours in traffic, listening to the radio tell story after story about how our President is having party after party, going on vacation after vacation, constantly bowing and scraping to every petty tyrant around the world, taking about how everyone has to pitch in and make sacrifices, you fill up your car, noting that it’s more expensive again today than it was the last time you filled up, you spend all day at your job, you stay late so you can do some overtime to make up for the lack of raises that you have been getting, thinking how close you are to losing your car and house, just a few missed payments away from being on the street, you then fight traffic all the way home, listening to the President give millions of dollars of your money to some pet cause, other country, or his cronies, you get home late, you miss your kids, when you get home you are so tired you just eat and go to bed and barely see your spouse and your family. You bust your ass, day in day out, family suffers, relationships suffer, you are simply trying to make ends meet. And then you get your paycheck or look at your W2 and look at the hundreds and thousands they rip out of your wallet, and they give it to these union thugs who think violence is a baseball bat or some other country which hates us and our way of life. How can you NOT be outraged!

How can anyone waffle on Gaddafi? I just don’t get this: Muammar Gaddafi has been a bad guy for 30 years. But like most liberals, Obama can’t see right and wrong, he can’t see good and bad, all that he can see is “shades of grey” – much like a “superhero” view of the world – there is no such thing as “evil” – evil is simply a different point of view – and this point of view has as much of a valid point as our own, even though the evil point of view has no qualms killing everyone, innocent men, women and children in cold blood. You have all this evidence, then the people start a revolution in order to reach for freedom and democracy, and Gaddafi responds with slaughter: how can your immediate reaction not be condemnation? Taxation Is Violence

So will the next candidate on the GOP side be a sacrificial lamb who will be slaughtered against the wave of Barack Hussein Obama in the next election? Is that way the current slate of possible candidates is holding back?

No, I don’t think so. I have more faith in the American people than that. I think that this election has to be as much of an anti-Obama election as it is a pro-Tea-Party-infused-Republican election. We have to home in on all of the negative things Obama has done to our country at the same time as we highlight the strengths of the movement back to first principles. We have to focus not just on the man or woman who will represent us, but the entire movement behind him or her. That the strength comes from the ideals and principles, and not from narcissistic dictatorial fiat.

In a sense, we have to present that we ALL stand against Obama, not just the candidate. If America sees that, then we will win. And America can be restored.

OK so I think at last count there are something like 12 or more (count ‘em) possible candidates who could go up against Obama next year. And the time for debate is fast approaching. Pretty soon, it will be time for someone to step up and really take the reins.

I’m wondering though, why no one has stepped up really strongly yet. Is it because they are all a bit intimidated by Obama and his upcoming, likely $1 billion re-election campaign, largely funded by those outside of the United States, aiming to take us even further down? Or is there a sense that whoever steps up against Obama will get so much flak so early on from his operatives that that person may end up as a sacrificial lamb, and be expected to lose against Obama?

My sense was that John Kerry was just that lamb, sacrificed up in 2004 so that Hillary Clinton could attempt to take the reins in 2008. She couldn’t have seen Obama on his foreign money propelled rocket ship flying over her head. Do we have a chance against Obama? Yes: continued next post…

Obama, in his recent decision not to enforce the Defense Of Marriage Act, or DOMA, has basically said, in deeds, that he believes in gay marriage. Then how come every time we ask him about how he feels about gay marriage, he says the exact same thing:

So in words, he disagrees with it, then in deeds, he does the exact opposite. Is this a politician thing? Have we basically come to expect that most everything out of the mouths of politicians is a lie? How when Republicans like, they are held accountable, but when Democrats lie, they are lauded?

Man up, Mr. President. If you support gay marriage, just come out and say so. By your actions, I can’t believe that anyone can still believe that you don’t. So just come out of the closet, man.

DOMA: Obama Above The Law

In a major victory for the proponents of gay marriage, the Defense Of Marriage Act, AKA DOMA, has been deemed unconstitutional by Eric Holder, and will therefore not be enforced by the Department of Justice. This is an interesting turn of events.

On the one hand, I agree that gay marriage, like any and every other social issue, is a personal thing, and the right to marry/not to marry should not rest on the whims of a government, any government for that matter.

On the other hand, this is still the law of the land, until it gets struck down by the Supreme Court. So as a constitutionalist, I say that Obama does not have to right to decide which laws he will enforce – he is bound to enforce the laws as they exist. By not enforcing this law, he is putting himself above the law.

Obama says that he is against gay marriage, but then all of his actions label him as being FOR gay marriage. Why wont he just come out and say that he is for it? I mean do people really believe him when he says he doesn't believe in it? Does anyone still fall for that?

Why is the GOP field still so open at this point? Is it because everyone is afraid to go up against Obama? Are we going to see a sacrifice play, like John Kerry was for Hillary Clinton back in '04?

Here’s my reasoning: if your life is difficult, if you are simply spending all of your time attempting to survive, you won’t have any time left over in order to challenge the government. If you are spending all your time in 3 jobs trying to pay for your gas and mortgage, when will you have time to join a Tea Party protest.

They want our lives to be as difficult as possible. Its another way to keep us repressed, just like the people of Egypt, Libya and the like. We are not unlike them, at all.

No Gas or Trains. How Do We Get To Work? Part 1

As I mentioned in my previous post, Obama is purposely forcing gas prices higher, probably to support the regimes in the Middle East, partly to force more people of the roads and out of their cars and into public transit and other high speed rail boondoggles.

I take the train to work once or twice a week here, mostly so that I can blog and relax instead of fight traffic. Due to budget shortages in California, they are looking at cutting the numbers of trains down by half, and shutting down most stations between San Jose and San Francisco. One of the stations that is due to close is the one near my office. Additionally, if they do this, the trains will be packed to capacity.

I’m sure that Barack Obama and his minions are welcoming the increase in gas prices with open arms. Hell, I think many of the pundits on the left have opined openly about how great it would be for the environment if gas was $5, $10, $15 a gallon. Of course, they aren’t hurting, since they either get driven around on the taxpayers dime, or take cabs, or live in some other sort of urban area where they don’t need to have a car to get around. On the one hand, he does not intervene in places where oil production is at risk, like the Middle East, and on the other hand, stops companies from drilling on our soil or offshore. I’m thinking that they are trying to get the price of gas to $10 a gallon, with no care for the consequences of those of us who must drive to work.

One of the positive aspects of the current unrest and protests in Wisconsin, as well as other states who will soon be needing to do the exact same thing to their public employees, is that this crisis is shining a bright light on the actions of unions. The thuggery, the comparisons of Wisconsin Governor to Hitler, the violence, the fraud of school teachers calling in sick and getting fake doctors notes written, the kids who are missing out on school as this, lets call it what it really is, strike, against the people of Wisconsin shuts down the schools for even more time. All of this is revealing the dirty tactics of these people. Unfortunately, since most of the mainstream media sides with labor and the unions, all of these dirty dealings are rarely uncovered for America to see.

Unions used to protect the worker. Now they use most of their funds for politicking, and extracting more concessions from the taxpayer. If you ask me, their time has come and gone.

Did you know that in the private sector, only about 6% of employees are unionized? In the public sector, 36% are unionized? This tells us two things: first of all, the power of unions is way less that we originally thought. Judging by all of the reporting and screaming and shouting, it would lead you to believe that there are more people in unions than not. That is obviously not true: unions members are in the minority of workers, in both the private and public sector. And secondly, the unions are usually portrayed as supporting the common man or the middle class, against unfeeling, nasty, corporate overlords. The reality is that those “mean corporate overlords” are a tiny minority, of all business (I’m sure most businesses do care more for their employees, even in unionized industries). Most of those unions rail against the state, which is supposed to represent the people. So when you see public sector unions railing against their employer, calling them Hitler, etc, they are really talking to you. They are fighting the people.

This is totally typical. While telling the rest of the country to eat healthy, the Queen of America gorges herself on huge portions of ribs, enough to make linebackers cry. And while the Obamas also ate some veggies and undoubtedly got their day’s worth of exercise on the snowy slopes, is the dietary splurge a case of “eat as I say, not as I eat”?

Fire The Wisconsin Doctors, Too

It looks like doctors in Wisconsin have been writing fake sick notes for the teachers so that they can take time off work and go to these protests asking for more favors from the state, even though the state can no longer afford to do this. In a previous post, I suggested that we fire all of the teachers, just like Reagan fired all of the air traffic controllers a long time ago. I think we should do the same for all of the doctors who falsified the sick notes, or at least suspend their licenses. This is all out war against the statists people, and they won't stop until America is remade in their own image. We have to stop this now before it gets worse - you know that Obama is in it for the long haul. We have to fight back to keep our country the way it should be.

With all the talk of reform and change, we really need to think deeply about what American government is and what we need from it. We need innovation and new thinking. Actually, scratch that. We DON’T need innovation and new thinking. We just need to go back to the original instruction manual for government, and only let government do what is in there and nothing more.

Think of the government as something we built from this original manual. We then took this manual and put in in a drawer and forgot about it. We then started building all sorts of new things onto government, ignoring the fact that some of these things we bolted on just didn’t work. We lost site of the original manual and what it states.

This original manual, is, of course, the Constitution. Go back to that manual, read it thoroughly, and ONLY LET GOVERNMENT DO WHAT IT SAYS, no more. Only then can we be saved.

So Governor Christie makes a great case, and if he changes his mind about running for President and does, I think he would be a strong candidate. The question is: can we look past his exterior (if you haven’t seen him, Governor Christie is a large man) and vote for someone based on his words and not what he looks like? I mean can we really vote for someone who truly looks like a regular American (at least count we have a 60% obesity rate), like someone who you could see sitting in the next booth at Hometown Buffet?

Do we really need our elected officials to look like celebrities? Do we really need them to look good or sound good (Some people take exception with Sarah Palin’s voice). Have we as a people gone beyond the superficial, and can truly elect the best person for the job, no mater what they look like?

So I checked out Governor Chris Christie’s speech at the American Enterprise Institute the the other day. He makes a great case, speaking strongly about doing big things and dealing with the real, big issues, like social security, medicare and the military. I think he has a grasp of some of the enormity of the issues facing us today – literally life of death issues for America. He speaks convincingly, and seems to have some good solutions, well is at least open to serious action. Although while listening to him, I still had this sense that even his solutions would not be good enough. We truly need to go back to first principles, take the state back down to the level it was at during the founding of this country. The question is: can he go far enough? I wasn’t convinced in listening to him. At this point, I’m not sure anyone understands the enormity of the changes that need to take place in order for this country to survive.

Now that is has come to light that Obama’s Organizing For America is behind the protests for more government worker entitlements in Wisconsin, and he specifically uses the incendiary words “Assault on Unions” in the last interview he gave, I say we give it to him. He wants a fight – we should give him one. If he thinks we are trying to take down the unions, then lets have at it! Unions have been a huge thorn in the side of business for far too long – they regularly conspire with government to steal from us and provide very poor service. They continually spend their dues outside of the original mandate or protecting their members: they are outmoded, archaic institutions which need to die, just like those companies that Obama bailed out should have. So I say, you think this is an assault on unions, I say: It’s way past time we took them out. Let’s do it now, and the sooner the better.

Doubtless you’ve hard of the protests in Wisconsin. There’s about 10,000 public employees trying to pressure the Republican governor to keep their perks, salaries and pensions while the rest of us in the private sector have to go without. Just like the workers asking for more entitlements in Greece.

If you ask me, Scott Walker should pull a Ronald Reagan and fire all of them just like Reagan did with the air traffic controllers back in the 80s.

One of my old bosses used to say “If you don’t like your job, go! There’s busloads of people pulling up to take it.” Especially with the unemployment levels being what they are now, thanks to Obama, I’ll bet Wisconsin would be flooded with resumes if he ever had the guts to do it. As one of my favorite movie characters of all time states “Playtime is over, and business is business”.

Obama met yesterday with some titans of industry here in Silicon Valley (just a stones throw from where I live here in Freedom Bunker, CA). While I didn’t get to see the motorcade or any of the guests, I did hear that some of the best and brightest (heads of Facebook, Google, Twitter etc) met with Obama, ostensibly about job creation.

I hope that they didn’t just pay lip service to the President and just tell him what he wanted to hear instead of the truth, which is : “If you want to create jobs, just get out of our way and let us do it”. These business leaders have created hundreds of thousands of jobs, which a mere 5-10 years ago didn’t even exist.

So if you ask me, Obama should quit bowing deeply to the tyrants and other political leaders of the world. He SHOULD however be bowing deeply to the American Businessman, who he reviles so much, as it is the AMERICAN BUSINESSMAN who will in the end save his bacon, if there is any bacon left to be saved, that is.

It’s pretty funny: whenever a government official stands up and makes an announcement that unless “taxes are increased” then we will have to “shutdown the government”. Usually, these announcements are made in serious tones, with all sorts of horror stories being told. To hear them speak, it sounds like the end of the world, that the country will simply ground to a halt. To them it sounds like the apocalypse. Like the end of the world.

Well I say: Bring It On! Not only are we not afraid of a government shutdown, we WELCOME IT! In fact, I think Sarah Palin made the point that we’d save a ton of money just by shutting the government down for a bit – maybe even enough to not have to raise the debt ceiling.

During the Clinton administration, a similar budget impasse shut the government down for a spell. Guess what happened? We are still here, and we saved a bunch of money. I say, do it again, now, and for as long as we can take it. We WELCOME it!

Wisconsin Like Greece, Not Egypt

As the protests continue in Wisconsin, the protesters like to compare themselves to the protestors and rioters in Egypt, protesting an oppressive regime which did not allow their people to hold free and democratic elections, and repress the people via suppression of free speech and high taxes. While they are both protesting, the comparison is false, and is in fact the opposite: while Egypt was attempting to reduce government repression, these protesters are looking to increase it, to gain at the expense of others. If you want to compare this to other protests, this is more like what happened in Greece, where government workers were asking for more handouts, when there wasn’t nay money left. That’s a bit less noble, don’t you think, but true, nonetheless. These protesters want more money out of OUR pockets, not freedom. BIG difference, if you ask me.

The President Who Hated America The Most

If you want to call the Obama administration a historic presidency, you’d be wrong to say its because he’s the first black president, I mean: 1) he’s multiracial 2) I thought Bill Clinton was the first black president. No, this Presidency is historic due to his deep hatred of America.

So you say: Future, what's your evidence. Two major things, one from a while back and one from today. Do you remember when Arizona decided to do something about illegal immigration and passed a law to let cops ask people who they thought were illegals for their papers and if they were found to be illegal, work to have them charged and deported? Well, Obama both sued Arizona, AND reported them to the United Nations as a violation of human rights.

It has now come to light that the protests in Wisconsin for more government perks and entitlements for government workers is being supported and orchestrated by Obama’s own organization, Organizing For America. Has any other President in the course of our history, ever undertaken such bold acts of undermining our republic, not to mention all of the unconstitutional laws that he is forcing on us?

When you look at all the evidence, its difficult to see him as anything other than the most hateful American president. And that hate is directed right at the ideals of America, and the American people.

Job Creation Is Code for Boondoggle

Florida Gov. Rick Scott isn’t making any friends in Tallahassee, or is he?

According to The Tampa Tribune, “Governor shows he’s a different kind of leader” by announcing his proposed budget at a Tea Party meeting near Orlando; notifying state legislators that he’s selling the state’s two planes and they’d be on the hook for their own travel; and not cozying up to the Tallahassee press corps, among others actions and words indicating he won’t accept “business as usual.”

Then, on Wednesday, he dropped the bombshell when he gave a virtual middle finger to about $2.4 billion in federal grant money for a proposed high-speed rail line between Tampa and Orlando, effectively killing the project.

This of course ignited a firestorm of protestations from all across the political spectrum, including a budding libertarian at my blog, The Shutt Chute. The Trib’s “Local leaders decry decision,” quotes Tampa’s mayor who championed the HSR system and several candidates for municipal offices as being outraged with Scott.

You can read my initial reaction here, just an hour or so after Scott’s press conference.
In standard, “status quo” fashion, Democrats and Republicans are joining forces across the proverbial aisle to find a backdoor method to go around Scott and keep the boondoggle on track.

“I don’t have a law school degree,” said U.S. Rep. John Mica of Florida, as quoted in The Tampa Tribune. “But, we are going to look at every option.”

The Republican chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Mica appears to be teaming up with Democrat Sen. Bill Nelson, Florida, to investigate and fast track the creation of a new state entity, independent of the governor’s office, with the hope they can still secure some of that addictive federal grant money.

Over at Facebook, one of my political acquaintances posted the following status update this morning, “Florida FLOOD Nelson and Mica Office with calls telling them to STOP NOW!!” and included a link to this blog: Florida Political Press. I read the post and a few hours later decided to call.

My decision to record the conversations was last minute and the corresponding notes are sloppy because of that. Nonetheless, it’s hard not to hang up with those staffers, one of whom is just an intern, and not feel like whatever you had to say, because it’s a dissenting opinion, will get relegated to the circular file before reaching anybody with any clout.

To be fair, I completely understand that the guys and gals who answer the phones at these congressional offices are the lowest rung on the ladder; they’re at the bottom of the totem pole; they’re … you get the point, one guy was an intern and the other the self-professed “new guy.”

But, these staffers made no attempt to make me feel like my opinion was valued, even if it wasn’t in line with what their respective bosses were doing. In fact, I didn’t really give them much indication early on as to which way I was leaning.

I posted my conversation with Nelson’s and Mica’s offices on Facebook and got this feedback from whoever manages the AM 540 WFLA Orlando’s page: “Not answering anything resembling a question is an art form.”

I can’t help but wonder if they were non-responsive because I was in favor of Scott’s announcement, hate their jobs or lack proper customer service skills (making them on par with the customer service industry). Maybe it was that I was recording them.

The most important message I wanted to convey to Nelson and Mica, because they’re the ones making the biggest push to keep the high-speed rail alive, is that claims of 20,000+ jobs being created are a farce.

Obviously, there are jobs created with such a project but the $26 million in studies never look at the unintended consequences such as loss revenue for everybody from whom government is drawing the $2.4 billion and these “new jobs” in many cases could just be shifting jobs, following the money and, because of the new construction demand, artificially inflated prices in the supply line.

Not the least of our worries, we should seriously question the validity of a high-speed train to cover a two-hour drive-time commute.

I mean, who goes into business with the intent of “creating jobs.” Entrepreneurs start businesses because they have found (or think they have) a way to capitalize off the needs or wants of society. That jobs are created is a result of the business’ success.

In my experience, it is only ever governments that proclaim job creation when entering a new venture. And, the more vocal they are about the jobs, the less legitimate the project is bound to be.

Education: 3 out of 5 Lose

Education in this country is broken: everyone completely gets this. There is not one person who feels that the public education system is working. But nothing will ever change or get better, because even though there are 5 constituents which make up the educational system:

Students

Parents

Teachers

Unions

Government

The last two will always attempt to maintain the status quo, and therefore the system will never change. It’s funny how the least important players in the this game are the ones who hold the most power, and are also the ones least affected by the system.

The students are the direct benefactors of a quality education. A quality education, fair and balanced, provides students with all of the tools required in order to survive and yes, compete, in this world. You think students in other countries stop scoring soccer games because the students feel bad? No.

The parents pay for this education. In return they get a shoddy product, and are forced to take it. In some states, it is actually illegal to homeschool your children, and in most others, parents cannot afford to pay their taxes AND send their children to private schools that work.

The teachers, if you are me, are basically good, they do what they can with the resources that they are given.

These three players are desperate to change the game. They have seen the quality of education in this country plummet as the costs have skyrocketed. They know that there is no correlation between money spent and quality of education. They see reformers like Michelle Rhee, and others who push for vouchers as focused bright lights who could conceivable do something about the state of affairs.

Unfortunately, the last two players in this game like the rules exactly the way they are: unions have a sweet deal – in concert with the tax stealing government, these two thieves and low lifes have stolen billions of dollars and many educations from the first three players. This is why when Obama came into office, he halted the voucher program in one of the poorest districts in the country. He extinguished any hope there could have been for these students. But you never hear about that do you?

Vouchers have universal appeal for the first 3 players: they allow the best schools to stay open, the best teachers to gravitate to them, and the poor schools to close and the poor teachers to leave the field. Vouchers initiate competition, the thing which drives people to be better than they were. But since vouchers only have negative effects for the other 2 players, they are then forbidden.

There is no way out of this: unless we see a massive, immediate change in the system, billions more dollars will be spent, on ever worsening education, and the only ones who will benefit will be those last two players.

So I only see one solution: cut them out. How can we cut out the unions and the government? Start as many new private schools as we can. Drive the kids out of the public schools into private schools. Create a second private school system, a shadow school system if you will. A Real America school system, as opposed to a Government America school system. Then starve it out.

Or drive vouchers everywhere. Use it as leverage to drive out both last players corruption of the system. In the end the only real solution is to take the whole system private, with the money given back to the parents, so that they can put it back into the right teachers and the right schools. But we can’t wait long.

What The Government Should Do

Nothing. Well actually, two things. There are only two things that the government should do, and had the original mandate to do:

Protect us against invasion from other countries

Keep a justice system in place in order for disputes between people to be dealt with

That is all. Those two points above are the only things that government should be doing, not the other million plus things that it is doing right now, deeply interfering in our lives and digging deep into our pockets to steal our hard earned cash.

When you look at it from that perspective, you realize how far from the roots of our government it has strayed, and continues to stray.

But some may say: what about this or that thing that the government does? Well I say, if the government stops doing it, and then a private company steps in to provide that “service”, and can make money and survive by doing it, well then I guess it was worth doing. If no one enters the fray to do the work, I can bet you that we never needed that service after all.
